‘American Gods’ at Long Last Gets a Trailer for Season 2 (Video)

Your patience has been rewarded

“American Gods” fans have a reason to celebrate, as Starz released an extended trailer Sunday for the show’s long-awaited Season 2.

As the two-minute trailer shows, the Old and New Gods are preparing to go to war. While Mr. World (Crispin Glover) plots revenge for the attack against him last season, Shadow and Wednesday (Ricky Whittle and Ian McShane) make their case to the Old Gods to go to war, with Laura and Mad Sweeney (Emily Browning and Pablo Schreiber) in tow.

A council at the House on the Rock explodes into chaos, sending all the gods on quests across America that will converge on Cairo, Illinois, forcing Shadow to carve out a place as a believer in this strange new world of living gods, where showing one’s faith requires terrible sacrifice.

The first season of “American Gods” finished way back in June 2017, and since then the Neil Gaiman adaptation has suffered multiple setbacks and behind-the-scenes turbulence. After creators Michael Green and Bryan Fuller left the series at the end of Season 1, Jesse Alexander was selected as the show’s new showrunner, only to leave the show last September.

The show’s cast has also seen significant turnover, as Gillian Anderson and Kristin Chenoweth have departed, with Kahyun Kim, Dean Winters and Devery Jacobs joining for Season 2.

“American Gods” returns March 10 on Starz. Watch the trailer above.
