"American Horror Story" co-creator Ryan Murphy revealed Conroy's return via his Twitter account on Thursday, writing, "Thrilled to announce the legendary Frances Conroy is on board for next season's American Horror Story.

Conroy played the older version of Moira, the housekeeper for the Harmon family, on the first season of "American Horror Story," and the Angel of Death in "American Horror Story: Asylum."

Farmiga, meanwhile, played daughter Violet Harmon in the first season, but was absent from the second cycle.

While numerous cast members have appeared on multiple seasons of "American Horror Story," they have played different characters each season, which are set in a different environment for each cycle. The next installment will be a romance set in contemporary times.
