‘American Psycho’s’ Harron, Pressman Reunite for ‘Moth Diaries’

Scott Speedman, Lily Cole will star in vampire thriller.

Writer-director Mary Harron and "American Psycho" producer Edward R. Pressman announced Monday that they are reuniting for an adaptation of "The Moth Diaries," the cult novel by Rachel Klein.

British actress Lily Cole, who will appear in the Cannes debut of "The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus" next week, will star alongside Scott Speedman, who most recently appeared in "Adoration."

The movie is set at an elite New England girl’s boarding school where pupils are reading "Carmilla," a 19th-century book about a female vampire that pre-dates "Dracula." Cole plays Ernessa, whose arrival at the school leads to drama amongst the students as well the onslaught of a sudden rash of mysterious deaths. Speedman plays a literature instructor teaching on Gothic fiction.

"We couldn’t be more excited about working with Mary again. Her script is very smart, very visual, very feminine yet very powerful," Pressman said in a statement, adding that the major roles that have yet to be cast are "prime showcases for today’s brightest female talent." “This is a chillingly atmospheric horror story with real emotional depth.
