After a long wait, Apple has finally unveiled the first look at its original programming, including footage from an upcoming series starring Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon.
During its glitzy event Monday morning at its Cupertino, Calif. headquarters, the tech giant showed off a 2-minute long sizzle reel that featured snippets of many of its upcoming series.
The trailer highlighted several new series, including “Morning Show,” the a.m. TV drama with Aniston and Witherspoon, and Steven Spielberg’s reboot of “Amazing Stories.” Other series teased include Hallie Steinfeld’s “Dickinson” and Kumail Nanjiani’s “Little America.”

During Monday’s event, Apple CEO Tim Cook unveiled a few details about Apple TV+, its upcoming streaming service that will launch this fall. Cook said the service will feature Apple original series, be available in over 100+ countries and be accessible via Apple TV. No price was given.
Apple took this opportunity to bring out some of the biggest names attached to the almost two dozen series it has ordered for Apple TV+, including Aniston, Witherspoon, Nanjiani, Steve Carell, Jason Momoa, Alfre Woodard, “Sesame Street’s” Big Bird, J.J. Abrams and Sara Bareilles to preview their programs. Oh, and Oprah Winfrey.
Apple’s new streaming service will be met with a growing number of competitors as it looks to make a presence in the over-the-top (OTT) space. In addition to Netflix, Amazon and Hulu, Apple TV+ will also be going up against the yet-to-be named service from AT&T’s WarnerMedia and Disney+, both of which are expected to launch later this year.
Apple also announced its news subscription, Apple News+.
“Morning Show,” based partly on CNN media reporter Brian Stelter’s book “Top of the Morning,” provides an inside look at the lives of the people who help America wake up in the morning, exploring the unique challenges faced by the women (and men) who carry out this daily televised ritual. Along with Witherspoon and Aniston, who also executive produce, the series stars Nestor Carbonell (“Bates Motel,” “Lost”) and Mark Duplass (“The Mindy Project,” “The League”), Steve Carell in his first TV role since “The Office,” Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Billy Crudup.
Nanjiani wrote “Little America” with his wife Emily V. Gordon. The Apple series will go beyond the headlines to look at the funny, romantic, heartfelt, inspiring and surprising stories of immigrants in America at a time when they are more relevant than ever. “Dickinson” is a comedic take on the famed poet Emily Dickinson’s coming-of-age story, which is written and executive produced by Alena Smith.
Spielberg will executive produce the revival of “Amazing Stories,” the science fiction and horror anthology he co-created for NBC that ran for two seasons in the 1980s.
