Starring Roth, Genevieve O’Reilly and Abigail Lawrie, the series centers on a former Metropolitan Police detective who becomes chief of police in the Canadian Rockies. The six-episode final outing will see the character returning to the U.K. to confront his family’s menacing past.

The episodes will go into production later this year to air on Sky in the U.K. and on Amazon in other territories.

“Tin Star” is produced by Kudos, part of The Endemol Shine Group, and Gaumont UK, the London-based subsidiary of the “Narcos” producer. Executive producers are Alison Jackson, Paul Gilbert and Joffe.

The longtime soap star died last month at his home in Woodland Hills, California. According to an autopsy report released on Tuesday, St. John’s death was caused by hypertrophic heart disease. He was 52.

Hypertrophic heart disease, also known as hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, is a condition in which the heart muscle becomes abnormally thick, making it harder for the heart to pump blood. Per the Mayo Clinic, the condition can cause atrial fibrillation, obstructed blood flow and, in rare cases, sudden cardiac death.

The autopsy report also noted that St. John “reportedly has a history of alcohol use, bipolar disorder and suicidal ideation.” He was released from a mental health hospital just two days before his death, after being admitted on a 72-hour hold, according to the report.

St. John originated the role of Neil Winters on “The Young and the Restless” and had portrayed him for 27 years, becoming the longest running African American actor to appear on the soap. His other credits include the ABC TV mini-series “Roots: The Next Generation” and the NBC soap opera “Generations.”

He was the recipient of nine Daytime Emmy award nominations, winning twice, and 10 NAACP Image Award nominations. He most recently was nominated for a Daytime Emmy in 2017.

A special storyline paying tribute to St. John and his character will air on the CBS soap next month.

The addition of Lawson comes as the pilot is set to undergo a retooling following the first table read. The “Designated Survivor” alum will step in for Josh Cooke, who had previously booked the part.

Lawson will star opposite Katey Sagal in the multi-camera hybrid, which centers on an obsessive, overprotective dad (Lawson), who is forced to invite his brash and bawdy mother-in-law — Nana (Sagal) — into his home to help raise the two granddaughters she barely knows.

YouTube star Lilly Singh will take  over Carson Daly’s old late-night timeslot on NBC, the network announced on Thursday.

“A Little Late With Lilly Singh” will air at 1:35 a.m. beginning in September. The half-hour program will combine in-studio interviews, pre-taped comedy sketches and “signature segments.”

The announcement of Singh’s new show follows last month’s news that Daly’s “Last Call” would come to an end after 17 years and 2,000 episodes. She is set to formally announce the news during an appearance on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” on Thursday.

Singh becomes the latest digital star to make the foray into late-night, with a YouTube channel that boasts more than 14 million subscribers. Her film and TV credits include HBO’s recent “Fahrenheit 451” adaptation, “Bad Moms” and “Ice Age: Collision Course.”

She also previously starred in the Kenya Barris pilot “Bright Futures” for NBC, alongside Emily Ratajkowski, “The Get Down” alum Shameik Moore and “American Vandal” stars Calum Worthy and Jimmy Tatro. The pilot ultimately was not picked up to series.

“An Indian-Canadian woman with her own late night show? Now that is a dream come true,” Singh said in a statement. “I’m thrilled to bring it to life on NBC, and I hope my parents consider this to be as exciting as a grandchild.”

Based on Lee’s bestselling 2017 novel, “Pachinko” chronicles the hopes and dreams of four generations of a Korean immigrant family.

Apple’s adaptation, described as “epic in scope, intimate in tone,” will be told in three languages — Korean, Japanese and English. Per the streamer, the story “begins with a forbidden love and crescendos into a sweeping saga that journeys between Korea, Japan and America to tell the unforgettable story of war and peace, love and loss, triumph and reckoning.”

Hailing from studio Media Res, which is also behind the Jennifer Aniston-Reese Witherspoon morning show drama for Apple as well as its Brie Larson spy drama, “Pachinko” will be written and executive produced by Soo Hugh. Lee will serve as executive producer alongside Media Res founder Michael Ellenberg. Media Res’ Dani Gorin will co-executive produce.

Hugh most recently served as showrunner on Season 1 of the AMC anthology “The Terror.” Her other previous credits include the acclaimed series “The Killing” and “The Whispers.”

Hugh is repped by WME and McKuin, Frankel, Whitehead. Lee is also with WME.

The stylist and fashion designer is set to executive-produce a new fashion design competition show for MGM Television.

Per the studio, the untitled project will see undiscovered designers “work together to create original designs, bringing completely new and unique looks to the runway.” The winning designs will be made available online immediately following each episode.

Zoe will executive produce the show alongside MGM Television chairman Mark Burnett, Barry Poznick and format creators Sean Kelly and Steve Hughes of Shaggy Entertainment.

The news comes just days after MGM announced it had enlisted “Fast and Furious” star Tyrese Gibson for a celebrity car racing series. Like Gibson’s show, Zoe’s fashion design competition does not yet have a network attached.

“This is the show I have always wanted to make. The show will spotlight some of the most talented designers from around the world and I am thrilled to be able to highlight their work,” Zoe said in a statement. “I have the utmost respect for Mark Burnett and the team at MGM — this is my dream partnership.”

“We are saddened by the recent news surrounding the college admissions allegations,” Hallmark parent company Crown Media said in a statement. “We are no longer working with Lori Loughlin and have stopped development of all productions that air on the Crown Media Family Network channels involving Lori Loughlin including ‘Garage Sale Mysteries,’ an independent third party production.”

Additionally, Sunday’s episode of “When Calls the Heart,” on which Loughlin is a series regular, has been pulled from the schedule. Though the show has not been canceled, the network said it was “evaluating all creative options related to” the actress’s participation in the series.

Loughlin has been a fixture on Hallmark in recent years, toplining a number of its original films, including the “Garage Sale Mysteries” film series.

The network had previously said it would take a wait-and-see approach with regards to Loughlin when the actress and her husband, fashion designer Mossimo Giannulli, were first identified by the FBI on Tuesday as two of the parents who are accused of buying into a bribery scheme in order to help place their kids into top-tier universities.

The “Fuller House” star surrendered herself to authorities on Wednesday and appeared before a federal judge in Los Angeles. She was released on $1 million bail. Her next court date is March 29 in Boston.

Loughlin had been ordered to surrender her passport but was given leeway to travel within the continental U.S. and British Columbia for work due to her obligations on “When Calls the Heart,” which films in Canada, and other projects.

Loughlin, along with 46 others including actress Felicity Huffman, were charged with paying bribes of up to $6 million to get their children into top universities like Yale, Stanford, Georgetown and USC, according to charging documents. During a press conference in Boston on Tuesday, Andrew Lelling, U.S. District Attorney for Massachusetts, said this was the “largest college admissions scam ever prosecuted by the Department of Justice,” totaling $25 million in bribes.

The official charges for both actresses were “conspiracy to commit mail fraud and honest services mail fraud.” If convicted, they could each face up to five years in prison. Huffman made her initial court appearance on Tuesday and was released on $250,000 bond. Huffman’s next court date is also March 29 in Boston.

According to the charging documents, Loughlin and Giannulli “agreed to pay bribes totaling $500,000 in exchange for having their two daughters designated as recruits to the USC crew team — despite the fact that they did not participate in crew — thereby facilitating their admission to USC.”

Despite critical acclaim and a dedicated fanbase, the show had been on the bubble for renewal, becoming the subject of a campaign for renewal on social media in recent months. Co-creator and co-showrunner Gloria Calderon Kellett called on fans last month to stream the show and express their desire for a fourth season.

However, Netflix said Wednesday that the Norman Lear sitcom’s viewership numbers did not justify a fourth season. “The choice did not come easily — we spent several weeks trying to find a way to make another season work but in the end simply not enough people watched to justify another season,” the streamer said in a statement.

Sony Pictures Television plans to shop the show to other outlets and networks in the coming weeks, according to an individual familiar with the situation.

“We had the time of our lives making this show,” executive producer Mike Royce said in a statement, confirming that the studio is searching for a new home for the show. “We worked with the best, most giving and talented cast, writers and crew ever, as well as the incomparable Norman Lear. So while our hearts are very heavy, they are also bursting with appreciation for this amazing experience.”

A Cuban-American-centric reboot of the 1970s sitcom that ran for nine seasons on CBS, “One Day at a Time” centers on a recently separated, former military mom (Justina Machado) navigating a new single life while raising her radical teenage daughter and socially adept tween son, with the “help” of her old-school Cuban-born mom (Rita Moreno) and a friends-without-benefits building manager named Schneider (Todd Grinnell).

Stephen Tobolowsky, Isabella Gomez and Marcel Ruiz also star. Michael Garcia and Brent Miller serve as producers on the series from Sony, Act III Productions, Inc., Snowpants Productions and Small Fish Studios.

Smollett’s $3,500 check to Abimbola Osundairo says in the memo line that it was for “5 Week Nutrition/Workout Program (Don’t Go),” according to a copy received by ABC News. (“Don’t Go” is the name of a song Smollett says he was getting ready to shoot a music video for.)

Chicago police, however, said the check was payment for Abimbola “Abel” Osundairo and Olabinjo “Ola” Osundairo to attack Smollett on Jan. 29.

But Schmidt told TheWrap on Wednesday that the check was for both the attack and the training.

“The idea of them getting paid by Jussie for the training actually occurred before… this Jan. 29 thing happened,” she said. “When he went to pay them, was when he [asked] for this favor.”

“So it’s like a wink-wink, nudge-nudge, ‘Can you do this for me?'” Schmidt said. “‘Here’s payment for the other thing we talked about.'”

Asked if she knows how much of the money was for training and how much was for the attack, she said she had never though of it in “that binary way.”

The Osundairo brothers were taken into custody by Chicago police after the attack but were released after two days and have not been charged with any crimes. Schmidt said her clients have “fully cooperated” and will still “fully cooperate” with the ongoing case, adding that she does not believe them to be in legal jeopardy.

“Are they in legal peril? Am I nervous for them? No,” she said. “You only need immunity when you’re facing unrelated charges on things … No promises were made, no deals were cut. They wanted to be truth-tellers in the story.”

Smollett was indicted by a grand jury last week on 16 felony counts after allegedly lying to police about the incident, in which he said he was randomly attacked by two men shouting racial and homophobic slurs in his Chicago neighborhood. The Osundario brothers are from the north side of Chicago.

Chicago PD Superintendent Eddie Johnson said Smollett staged the attack because he was displeased with his pay on the Fox hip-hop soap opera “Empire.”

Schmidt denied that that detail came from her client’s conversations with police. “[They] never once… touched on what was Jussie’s motive,” she said Wednesday. “My clients would not know what he was thinking or how far back he was planning something.”

“We have not been asked to do anything further in terms of the state’s investigation or their case,” she added.

“Press Your Luck” and “Card Sharks” have been picked up to series at the network and are set to go into production this spring, the network said on Wednesday. No host or premiere dates have been announced.

The Fremantle-produced game shows join a roster which also includes “Celebrity Family Feud,” “$100,000 Pyramid,” “Match Game” and “To Tell the Truth.”

“Press Your Luck” first aired in 1983 on CBS, running for three seasons with Peter Tomarken as host. A new version, titled “Whammy!” ran briefly on the Game Show Network in 2003.

During each game, three contestants compete against each other answering questions to earn spins on the “Big Board” where they could either win cash and prizes or lose all their earnings at the hands of a “Whammy.” John Quinn is showrunner on the new iteration, in addition to serving as an executive producer, along with Fremantle’s Jennifer Mullin.

Running in a number of different iterations since its debut in 1978, “Card Sharks” is described as a game where “one turn of a playing card can make you a winner or a loser!”

Contestants are asked to guess whether a face-down playing card is higher or lower than previous cards in order to win money. Per ABC, “Ultimately, players can either take their earned cash and quit or continue betting with the hope of reaching the top for a chance to take home a life-changing cash prize.”

The new “Card Sharks” showrunner and executive producer is Scott St. John. Jack Martin and Jennifer Mullin are also executive producers.

Picking up right where Monday’s episode left off — after yet another reminder from host Chris Harrison that Colton is the franchise’s first virgin Bachelor — the finale opened with Colton at Cassie’s door in Portugal, newly committed to their relationship. Despite having been dumped by her once, Colton was hoping for another chance

“I hope she’s not at peace with her decision. Because I’m not,” he tells the camera before telling Cassie he “sacrificed and gave up everything” by dumping both Hannah G. and Tayshia.

“I knew I wanted to have another conversation with you, but first I wanted to make sure that I ended things with Tayshia and Hannah,” he said. “Two women that could’ve given me a good life, given me everything that I want. But it wasn’t with who I wanted it to be with.”

Cassie, repeating what she said during their first breakup, told Colton that she wasn’t “sure” about her feelings for him and wasn’t ready for a long-term commitment. “You’re on ‘The Bachelor,’ you’re here to get engaged,” she said. “I didn’t know if I would get there. I didn’t know if I did get there that it would be real.”

Ultimately, Cassie, moved by Colton’s willingness to give up his “Bachelor” obligations for her, agreed to give it another go, this time “taking it day by day.”

And without so much as another date, Cassie was whisked off to Mallorca, Spain and put in front of Colton’s parents, forced to explain her choice to leave him once and prove that their relationship is worth forgoing an engagement for.

“Coming in here and knowing that you guys had expectations for what you wanted from him and what you expected to happen today — it’s been hard knowing I’m not going to live up to that, necessarily, right now,” she said.

Later picking back up on the live finale broadcast, Colton and Cassie confirmed that they were, in fact, still together. The couple hadn’t yet gotten engaged, but they professed to still be very much in love. Colton also declined to answer Harrison’s continued prodding regarding his virginity, opting to instead keep that particular detail of his relationship with Cassie “private.

Harrison closed out the show by announcing that fan favorite Hannah Brown would get another shot to find someone to love her “fiercely” as the next Bachelorette.

He then surprised her by introducing the first five suitors live on stage at the finale, and the former Miss Alabama was tasked with handing out the first rose before her season’s formal start. She chose Cam, praising his ability to “pump up the jams” with an original rap upon their introduction.

However, fans will have to wait until Monday, May 13 to meet the rest of Hannah’s potential love interests when “The Bachelorette” returns to ABC.

Jacobson will oversee the new label as head of creative and will report to Sony Pictures Television Studios president Jeff Frost. She’ll be joined by Kathryn Busby as senior vice president and Carolyn Carbone as vice president.

“Marie’s experience in producing shows that deliver both creatively and financially makes her ideal for this position,” Frost said in a memo announcing the new division.

Per Frost’s announcement, the new production label will produce TV programming “in the indie feature film style and paradigm” to reduce per-episode costs. It will target external as well as internal Sony platforms, including the company’s AXN channel.

“Marie and her team are in a unique position to capitalize on shared learnings from their combined experience as programmers and producers to create premium content on a sensible budget,” he said.

Among the previously announced series that will fall under the new label’s purview are “Absentia,” which is distributed by Amazon in the U.S.; the Jerry O’Connell-led detective comedy “Carter,” which airs in the US on WGN; and the Australian thriller “Reckoning,” which will be shopped this spring.

“We’re right now in the thick of college application time, which is so stressful,” Macy told Parade magazine in January, discussing his oldest daughter.

Huffman was one of 46 people arrested on Tuesday, with authorities accusing the “Desperate Housewives” star of paying $15,000 into a bribery scheme that hired entrance exam administrators to cheat on behalf of prospective applicants.

According to an affidavit, Huffman paid “to participate in the college entrance exam cheating scheme on behalf of her oldest daughter.” The document added that Huffman “later made arrangements to pursue the scheme a second time, for her youngest daughter, before deciding not to do so.”

Macy was not identified by name in the affidavit or charged.

The couple’s older daughter Sofia, 18, is a student at Los Angeles High School of the Arts and an aspiring actress, according to Macy’s interview.

“I am voting that once she gets accepted, she maybe takes a year off. God doesn’t let you be 18 twice,” he said at the time. “I know from casting, if you need a 25-, 26-year-old actress, there are a lot of them out there and they’re really good. But if you need a 15-, 16-year-old actress, it’s tough. Sofia looks young. I think this is an opportunity for her. But it’s just my opinion, and we’ll see what she wants to do, what Felicity thinks and how the chips fall.”

“My daughter Georgia, she’s interested in politics, political science and pursuing that. She’s in a very academic school and killing it,” he said.

Colton Underwood’s search for love came to an unceremonious end on Monday night’s finale of “The Bachelor.”

After being spurned by Cassie last week, Monday’s episode picked up immediately following Colton’s infamous fence-jumping moment, with the producers on the verge of calling the police to search for their runaway Bachelor.

Even though Cassie took it into her own hands to remove herself from the competition and break off their relationship, Colton returns in a mess of tears, somehow newly committed to his feelings for Cassie.

“I want to be with Cassie,” he later says. “I love her enough to risk everything. I want to not only tell her, but show her. I know what I need to do.”

So instead of moving on, he returns to have a tearful behind-closed-doors breakup with Tayshia, and a separate, equally weepy goodbye with Hannah G., in which he says that his love for Cassie precludes the possibility of a relationship with either of his other bachelorettes.

“To be honest with you, it hurt. I don’t think anybody really wants to hear that, especially when I feel like I’ve really laid it all out there,” Tayshia later tells host Chris Harrison, admitting that she was blindsided by the breakup.

Hannah G. seemed equally surprised by the news, telling Colton that she was “really thrown off” by his sudden appearance at her door. “I was so excited to see you. I really thought it was like, for sure going to be us,” she said. “I don’t know how to take this right now.”

But Colton’s feelings for Cassie could not be deterred. “I don’t know if I’m giving up a for-sure thing for something that is impossible,” he later tells a producer. “That’s literally how much I love Cassie. That I’m willing to walk away from something that great.”

In what Harrison repeatedly describes as an “unprecedented” move in “Bachelor” history, Colton closes out his time on the show by returning to once again profess his love for Cassie, the woman who previously said she wasn’t ready to commit to him.

“What I’m doing right now, and the sacrifices I just made, I didn’t do in my past relationship. I didn’t fight as hard as I could’ve to make it work. I’m doing that now,” Colton tells the camera through even more tears. “I don’t know if I’m fighting for something that’s not possible. But I’m willing to do everything and everything. Because that’s how much I love Cassie.”

But Cassie’s response to Colton’s knock on her door won’t be revealed until the second half of the “Bachelor” finale on Tuesday night at 8/7c on ABC, during which the next Bachelorette will also be revealed.

“Life Sentence” and “Pretty Little Liars” alum Lucy Hale has been tapped to play the title character in the network’s “Riverdale” spinoff pilot “Katy Keene.”

Described as “bold, big-hearted and independent,” the character is a twenty-something New Yorker who aspires to be a fashion designer. When she’s not working as a personal shopper at a luxury department store, she’s navigating friendship and dating in the big city.

The casting keeps Hale at The CW following the cancellation of her short-lived family dramedy “Life Sentence” last season.

“Riverdale” showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa co-wrote the “Katy Keene” pilot with Michael Grassi. Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter of Berlanti Productions are executive producers on the Warner Bros. Television pilot alongside Archie Comics CEO Jon Goldwater.

Gibson has teamed up with “Survivor” and “The Voice” creator Mark Burnett and MGM Television for “Celebrity Grand Prix,” a competition show which will pit stars against one another in a professional car race. Per MGM, the series is described as a “fast-paced competition where celebrities from all walks of life will be trained by professional race car drivers, and then face off on the race track. The star with the slowest time will be eliminated each week.”

Gibson will serve as host in addition to executive producing alongside Burnett. No network is attached.

Titled “Kevin Hart: Irresponsible,” the special was filmed last September during Hart’s stop at London’s O2 Arena. Per Netflix, in the hourlong set, Hart “touches upon his friends, family, travel … and a year filled with Irresponsible behavior.”

It will debut on the streamer on Tuesday, April 2.

The debut of the new special follows a turbulent few months for the comedian, whose history of making homophobic jokes cost him a job as host of last month’s Oscars.

Hart was initially announced as Oscars host in December, but within days the comedian had stepped down when anti-gay tweets and jokes from his past stand-up sets were resurfaced on social media. It was followed by a much-lambasted appearance on Ellen DeGeneres’s talk show in which the comedian refused to apologize again, saying he had already publicly addressed the controversy and had since grown and changed.

In a new trailer released on Monday for the Netflix comedy, Sheila (Drew Barrymore) and Joel (Timothy Olyphant) are finally faced with an uncomfortable truth about Sheila’s existence as a zombie — she’s going to outlive everyone she loves.

Apatow broke the news during an appearance on “Conan” Thursday night, and HBO confirmed Friday that it would not move forward with the series.

Created by and starring Pete Holmes, “Crashing” is a semi-autobiographical series which draws on Holmes’ experiences as a man trying to make it in New York City as a stand-up comedian.

After spending nearly $100,000 on Lizzie and driving himself into debt, “Love After Lockup’s” most generous sap has finally realized that his new fianceé might not be in it for the right reasons.

“I think she’s using me,” Scott confesses in a preview of Friday night’s season finale, several years, tens of thousands of dollars and many, many warnings too late. “I don’t think she even loves me.”

The new clip sees Scott face down, despondent after discovering the $2,000 credit card bill from Lizzie’s shopping spree earlier this season. When Lizzie comes to get him out of bed, Scott can’t even bring himself to take his face out of the pillow.

“Why even bother,” he groans, proving that if you thought you’d already seen him at rock bottom, well, you were wrong.

Scott finally admits to Lizzie that he’s totally broke. Lizzie, ever unflappable (“Whoop-dee-doo-ding-dong. So what? It’s only money, Scott.”), seems more annoyed by the fact that her cash flow has dried up than she is about this months-long deception by the man she claims to love.

“I f—ed up,” Scott says to Lizzie, to which she responds, “Yeah, you did. You straight-up did.”

Cuse, who has helmed the adaptation through its first two seasons, will step down from day-to-day responsibilities for the recently ordered third season to instead focus on his upcoming Netflix series “Locke & Key.”

“Jack Ryan,” a series adaptation of the popular Tom Clancy novels, was picked up for a third season by Amazon last month, well ahead of the show’s return for Season 2.

Cuse co-created the series with former “Lost” writer Graham Roland. He is expected to remain attached to the series as an executive producer, and a search is currently underway for his replacement as showrunner.

The series is described as a “reinvention” of the Tom Clancy hero played by John Krasinski, who also executive produces. The series sees the former “Office” star step into the role that’s been inhabited previously in films by Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford, Ben Affleck and Chris Pine. Though unlike those other four, the Amazon series is not a direct adaptation of any specific Clancy novel.

In Season 2, Krasinski will be joined by Wendell Pierce (“The Wire”), who will reprise his role as John Greer in the eight-episode run, along with new cast members Michael Kelly, Noomi Rapace and John Hoogenakker.

“Jack Ryan” is produced by Paramount Television, Cuse’s Genre Arts, Michael Bay’s Platinum Dunes and David Ellison’s Skydance Television. Along with Cuse, Roland and Krasinski, Platinum Dune’s Bay, Andrew Form and Brad Fuller also executive produce.

Lindsey Springer, Mace Neufeld, Vince Calandra, Andrew Bernstein and Skydance’s Ellison, Dana Goldberg and Marcy Ross will executive produce the second season with Allyson Seeger as a co-executive producer.

“It’s taken me a couple of days to figure out how to write this… My dear friend of 29 years, Luke Perry, was one of those truly special people who really cared,” Priestley wrote in an Instagram post on Thursday. “Luke was not only a star, he was an incredibly bright light that was extinguished far too soon… and that is why I, and so many others, are in so much pain today.”

Priestley starred as Brandon Walsh on “90210” for nine seasons between 1990 and 1999. Perry played bad boy Dylan McKay for the show’s first six seasons and final two.

Perry died Monday after suffering a “massive stroke” last week.

“If you had the good fortune to know Luke, or to have ever crossed his path, I know you are sad today as well,” Priestley wrote. “The candle that burns twice as bright only burns for half as long… you burned oh, so brightly Luke… Goodnight Sweet Prince.”

Tiffani Thiessen, who played one of Perry’s love interests on the ’90s teen drama, shared her own remembrance on Thursday as well, thanking the man “who started as my co-star but quickly became my friend” for taking her under his wing when she first joined the show.

“I was coming in to a show, a family really, that had been together for over 4 years. And most of all, the definition of a gentleman. Luke, our world has a hole in it now that you aren’t here. But heaven definitely gained you as an angel.”

“The Sajak family is deeply saddened to hear of Alex Trebek’s struggle with cancer,” wrote Trebek’s fellow game-show host Pat Sajak. “Our hearts go out to him and his family. But there is no one I know who is stronger and more determined, and I would never bet against him. We, and the entire country, are pulling for you, Alex.”

“I’ve said this before but Alex Trebek is in a way the last Cronkite: authoritative, reassuring TV voice you hear every night, almost to the point of ritual,” said “Jeopardy!” champion Ken Jennings. “One thing I know for a fact: Alex is very aware of how much he means to millions of people, and how we will be pulling for him…I hope that’s a comfort.”

Trebek announced his diagnosis in a video shared on the show’s social media accounts, saying that he was counting on the support of “Jeopardy!” fans in his fight against the cancer.

“Normally, the prognosis for this is not very encouraging, but I’m going to fight this, and I’m going to keep working … I plan to beat the low survival rate statistics for this disease,” he said, joking that he had no choice but to recover because his contract on the show runs for another three years.

According to the American Cancer Society, the five-year survival rate of Stage 4 pancreatic cancer is around three percent.

Mike Hopkins, chairman of Sony Pictures Television, which produces Trebek’s show, issued his own statement of support for Trebek on Wednesday.

“If anyone can beat this it’s Alex,” Hopkins said in a statement. “He has our full support as he tackles this challenge head-on.”

The series stars “Nurse Jackie” alum Merritt Wever as Ruby, a woman living a humdrum existence, who one day gets a text inviting her to fulfill a youthful pact promising true love and self-reinvention by stepping out of her life to take a journey with her oldest flame.

Domhnall Gleeson also stars in the series, which is written and executive produced by Waller-Bridge’s “Fleabag” and “Killing Eve” collaborator Vicky Jones. Waller-Bridge is attached as an executive producer via her company with Jones, DryWrite, and will have a recurring role.

Entertainment One produces for HBO, and Emily Leo of Wigwam Films also serves as executive producer.

First ordered to pilot last spring, “Run” becomes the first series order since the executive shake-up at HBO earlier this week.

Among the network’s other shows ordered to series and awaiting premiere are Joss Whedon’s “The Nevers,” the Danny McBride comedy “The Righteous Gemstones,” the Kathryn Hahn-led “Mrs. Fletcher” and the Drake-produced teen drama “Euphoria.”

“Normally, the prognosis for this is not very encouraging but I’m going to fight this,” the host said in a video announcing his diagnosis, which was posted to the game show’s social media channels. “I’m going to keep working and with the love and support of my family and friends — and with the help of your prayers, also — I plan to beat the low survival rate statistics for this disease.”

According to the American Cancer Society, Stage 4 pancreatic cancer (meaning the disease has spread to other parts of the body such as the lungs, liver or bones) has a 5-year survival rate of around three percent.

“Truth told, I have to, because under the terms of my contract, I have to host ‘Jeopardy!’ for three more years,” he said. “So help me, keep the faith, and we’ll win. We’ll get it done.”

The news comes just months after Trebek renewed his contract with Sony Pictures Television to stay on as host of “Jeopardy!” through 2022.

“If anyone can beat this it’s Alex. He has our full support as he tackles this challenge head-on,” Sony Pictures Television chairman Mike Hopkins said.

Trebek previously took some time off from the show in late 2017 after undergoing surgery to remove blood clots from his brain. He made a full recovery and returned to the program within weeks. He has served as host of the syndicated trivia game show since its revival in 1984.

After departing the long-running CBS procedural last year, Perrette is next set to join “Jane the Virgin” star Jaime Camil in the comedy pilot “Broke” for the network.

Written by Alex Herschlag and executive produced by “Jane” creator Jennie Snyder Urman, “Broke” centers on an outrageously wealthy trust fund baby (Camil) who is cut off by his father and moves in with his wife into her estranged sister Jackie’s (Perrette) Reseda condo, forcing the two siblings to reconnect.

Perrette’s Jackie is the manager of a bar and described as “feisty, not easily cowed, sometimes hot-headed, the kind of woman who knows her way around a tool box and an acetylene torch. She’s not thrilled when her snobby rich sister and husband suddenly show up on her doorstep, but she comes to remember how much she loves her sister and learns to appreciate them both in her life.”

In addition to starring, Camil is an executive producer on the pilot alongside Joanna Klein of Urman’s Sutton Street banner and Ben Silverman of Propagate Content. Director Victor Gonzalez and Guillermo Restrepo, Gonzalo Cilley and Maria Lucia Hernandez Frieri of RCN TV and Resonant TV also executive produce.

As TheWrap previously reported, Perrette exited “NCIS” after 15 years at the end of last season amid conflict with series star Mark Harmon over an on-set incident involving a dog bite. Should the multi-camera comedy move forward at CBS, it would mark her first TV role since leaving the procedural in May.

Apple has given a 10-episode straight-to-series order to the drama, which is based on the upcoming memoir by Amaryllis Fox titled “Life Undercover: Coming of Age in the CIA,” set to be published by Knopf on Oct. 15.

The series is described as “a provocative and contemporary look at a young woman’s journey in the CIA, told through the prism of her closest relationships.”

“Animal Kingdom” alum Megan Martin is in talks to write and executive produce the project.

Larson is also set to serve as an executive producer on the project, which hails from Michael Ellenberg’s Media Res. Lynette Howell Taylor will also executive produce via her 51 Entertainment banner alongside Samantha Housman. Dani Gorin of Media Res is co-executive producer.

Larson’s project is the second from Media Res ordered to series at Apple, following the tech company’s first-announced scripted original, the untitled morning show drama led by Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston. The studio also has an adaptation of the best-selling novel “Pachinko” in development for Apple’s upcoming streaming service.

The drama marks the first series regular TV role for the Oscar-winner since the Showtime series “United States of Tara,” which ran for three seasons between 2009 and 2011. The actress has since starred in films including “Short Term 12,” “Room” and “Kong: Skull Island.” Her Marvel debut, “Captain Marvel,” is set to hit theaters on March 8, followed by an appearance in the superhero team-up, “Avengers: Endgame,” in May.

Van Ness has been cast in the figure-skating drama from creator Samantha Stratton as the larger-than-life figure skating coach Bruce. Per Netflix, “Bruce is a former skater turned big-time choreographer from Michigan. He will create Kat and Justin’s main competitors’ program and have some fun confusing his clients along the way.”

Van Ness joins series stars Kaya Scodelario, January Jones and Willow Shields. The cast also includes Evan Roderick, Olympic figure skater Johnny Weir, Sarah Wright Olsen, Will Kemp, Kaitlyn Leeb, Amanda Zhou and Mitchell Edwards.

Ordered to series last fall, “Spinning Out” centers on Kat Baker (Scodelario), an up-and-coming, high-level single skater who seizes an opportunity to revive her career post-injury as a pair skater with a talented bad-boy partner and risks exposing a fiercely kept secret that could unravel her entire life.

Stratton (“Mr. Mercedes”) is creator and showrunner, executive producing alongside co-showrunner Lara Olsen. Tory Tunnell (“Safehouse”) and Joby Harold (“Safehouse”) also executive produce.

Van Ness is also set to return for the third season of “Queer Eye,” which premieres on Netflix on March 15.

Antholis is exiting as president, HBO miniseries and Cinemax, with HBO Films president Len Amato set to absorb his responsibilities.

“I am deeply grateful to HBO for over a quarter century of opportunities to work with many of the world’s great storytellers,” Antholis said in a statement. “I am particularly pleased that HBO’s generosity – in addition to encouraging me to develop and produce TV projects – will allow me to pursue my long-held vision of creating a digital media enterprise focused on crime journalism and storytelling.”

The news of his departure comes amid a period of top-level turnover at the premium cabler. Chairman and CEO Richard Plepler exited the company last week, with former NBC boss Robert Greenblatt taking over as head of HBO, in addition to Turner and WarnerMedia’s upcoming streaming service, as of this week.

“Kary has been a key creative force at HBO and Cinemax over the past three decades,” said HBO programming president Casey Bloys. “We are extremely appreciative of all that he has accomplished and contributed to the company, and we look forward to working with him as a producer and innovative voice in his new endeavors.”

During his time at the helm, Antholis has overseen such projects as “The Night Of,” “Mildred Pierce” and “Olive Kitteridge” at HBO, as well as shepherding Cinemax’s scripted originals, including “Strike Back,” “Banshee,” “The Knick” and “Outcast.”

Amato’s new title will be president, HBO Films, Miniseries and Cinemax Programming.

“Len has had a distinguished career leading HBO Films to award-winning results,” said Bloys. “He is uniquely qualified to add HBO Miniseries and Cinemax to his responsibilities; and we are thrilled that he will now be overseeing these three areas.”

Madison Curry, who stars in the upcoming horror flick “Us” from director Jordan Peele, has joined the cast of the Lake Bell comedy in a recasting. Curry will play Cherry, the granddaughter of the character played by Pam Grier. She steps in for actress Christina Offley, who played the role in the original Fox pilot.

Co-written by Bell and “New Girl” creator Elizabeth Meriwether, “Bless This Mess” stars Bell and Dax Shepard as a newlywed couple whose plans to ditch big city living for a simpler life in Nebraska don’t go as expected.

Hunegs is set to serve as president of Disney Television Studios, which will soon comprise ABC Studios, ABC Signature, Twentieth Century Fox Television and Fox 21 Television Studios. He will report to Fox’s Dana Walden, who will assume the role of chairman, Disney Television Studios and ABC Entertainment once the deal closes.

The new role at Disney follows Hunegs’ departure from his long-term position at Warner Bros. late last year. He most recently served as president of business and strategy for the company’s television group, in addition to overseeing its digital operations.

During his nearly 25-year tenure at Warner Bros., Hunegs earned a reputation as a savvy dealmaker, having overseen negotiations for such shows as “ER,” “Friends” and “The Big Bang Theory” in addition to negotiating licensing deals with Netflix and Hulu and overseeing the creation of The CW network.

Hunegs also led the company’s shift into the digital sphere, having been tapped by Warner Bros. chairman and CEO Kevin Tsujihara to serve as the founding president of Warner Bros. Digital Networks in 2016.

Written by Bill Martin and Mike Schiff, the comedy centers on a widower who discovers, as he tries to move on from the most difficult year of his life, that he’s utterly unprepared to raise his two daughters on his own and equally unprepared for the dating world where, to his shock, he’s suddenly a hot commodity.

Goggins’ character is described as a big-hearted open-book of a guy, but without his wife, he’s finding himself at sea. When his friends persuade him to start dating again, he discovers to his shock that he’s kind of a hot commodity, if only he knew what the hell he was doing.

The project, which hails from CBS Television Studios, was first picked up to pilot last month as a multi-camera sitcom. However, it is now set to be redeveloped as a single-camera, making it the only comedy pilot with the format at the network.

Ordered to series last fall, “Law & Order: Hate Crimes” was slated to be introduced later in this season of “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit,” but it’s said the show won’t be ready in time and will instead be pushed. However, the series from co-creators Dick Wolf and former “SVU” showrunner Warren Leight remains in active development with a 13-episode order for next season.

The seventh series in the “Law & Order” franchise, “Hate Crimes” is set to focus on New York’s real-life Hate Crimes Task Force, the second oldest bias-based task force in the U.S.

Per NBC’s original announcement, the unit, which pledges to uphold a zero-tolerance policy against discrimination of any kind, works under the NYPD’s Special Victims Unit and often borrows SVU’s detectives to assist in their investigations, suggesting a close connection between the two shows.

Despite the delay for “Hate Crimes,” Dick Wolf fans will still be introduced to at least one new spinoff of a Wolf Entertainment procedural this season.

Later this season, CBS will debut a backdoor pilot for a spinoff of Wolf’s “FBI,” centered on the agents assigned to tracking down the criminals on the agency’s Most Wanted list. Led by Julian McMahon and “Law & Order” alum Alana de la Garza, “FBI Most Wanted” is scheduled to air in the latter part of “FBI’s” freshman run this spring.

Predictions of medium-to-large scale layoffs overestimate the changes to come, Greenblatt said. He suggested that the number of people who find themselves out of work under the new regime could number as low as single digits.

“I don’t think you’re going to see anything like what has been predicted. It’s really just kind of the knee-jerk reaction that you expect, but you’re not going to see any headlines about hundreds or God-forbid thousands of people being laid off,” Greenblatt said in an interview with TheWrap on Monday. “We’re talking about one, two, three, four — maybe, tens of people. It’s not going to be the shake-out that’s been predicted.”

The new position for Greenblatt was formally revealed on Monday, just days after the departures of HBO chairman and CEO Richard Plepler and Turner president David Levy. As entertainment chairman, Greenblatt will fill both roles, in addition to overseeing WarnerMedia’s upcoming streaming service.

Greenblatt said thus far, his conversations with WarnerMedia CEO John Stankey have not focused on specific cost-cutting targets, but rather measures to reduce redundancy and inefficiency.

“I don’t think there’s a desire to just dump costs and people out of this business,” Greenblatt said. “We’re not doing a merger like Disney and Fox where there are literally thousands of people coming into a universe where there are already thousands of people doing the same jobs. We’re trying to put some networks together.”

Many were predicting layoffs to come from WarnerMedia’s apparent moves to streamline its cable network operations, but in his first official day on the job, Greenblatt is downplaying the idea.

“There’s no target,” Greenblatt said. “It’s really the surgical work of looking at the organization and how could we make it a little more efficient and smartly run. And emphasis on little.”

However, Greenblatt did issue one caveat. “Now, once we’re a year into the business or longer, there may be more things we decide to do,” he said. “But that’s the normal course of business.”

Details of the incident were not immediately available, but the producers of the show confirmed to TheWrap that the unidentified crew member is being treated for injuries and is expected to make a full recovery.

“A crew member was injured Friday, March 1, while working on season three of Mr. Mercedes in Summerville, SC,” a spokesperson for Sonar Entertainment said in a statement. “The crew member suffered burns to their hands and feet, is being treated for their injuries, and is expected to make a full recovery.”

Starring Brendan Gleeson and Harry Treadaway, the Stephen King adaptation is produced by David E. Kelley, director Jack Bender, Jonathan Shapiro, Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey of Temple Hill Entertainment, Tom Lesinski and Jenna Santoianni of Sonar Entertainment, and Shane Elrod and Kate Regan of AT&T’s Audience Network.

AT&T renewed the drama for a 10-episode third season last November, with an eye toward a late 2019 premiere.

The company’s statement regarding Friday’s injury continued, “Safety of our cast and crew is our top priority and we wish our crew member a speedy recovery.”

“Salvation” alum Santiago Cabrera and “Blindspot” actress Michelle Hurd will join Patrick Stewart in the upcoming Jean-Luc Picard series, the streamer announced on Monday.

CBS is staying tight-lipped about character and plot details, only sharing that the new, as-yet untitled series will see Stewart reprise one of his most famous roles as the “Star Trek: The Next Generation” captain in “the next chapter of his life.”

No premiere date has been announced, but show is slated to debut sometime later in 2019. As previously announced, “Star Trek: Discovery” alum Hanelle Culpepper will direct the first two episodes.

During the Television Critics Association Press Tour earlier this year, Kurtzman teased a Picard that may look quite different for fans of the series. “It’s been 20-plus years, so he couldn’t possibly be that same person anymore,” Kurtzman said.

“The question becomes: What has happened to him in that period of time? Have there been occurrences that force him to reckon with choices that he’s made in his life?” he continued. “How do you hold on to to being the person that everybody loved, when the circumstances around you may have changed so radically? Those are the big questions that we’re asking.”

The series will be produced by CBS Television Studios in association with Secret Hideout and Roddenberry Entertainment. Alex Kurtzman, James Duff, Akiva Goldsman, Patrick Stewart, Michael Chabon, Heather Kadin, Rod Roddenberry and Trevor Roth will serve as executive producers and Aaron Baiers (Secret Hideout) will serve as co-executive producer.

Cabrera is represented by Principal Entertainment LA and Hurd is represented by TMT Entertainment Group and APA.

Perry was hospitalized last week after suffering a “massive stroke,” ultimately dying on Monday in the company of family and friends, his publicist said in a statement.

The actor rose to fame playing the brooding Dylan McKay on the ’90s teen drama “Beverly Hills, 90210.” He most recently starred in The CW’s Archie Comics adaptation “Riverdale” as Fred Andrews, the loving father to the central character played by KJ Apa.

“We are deeply saddened to learn today about the passing of Luke Perry,” the “Riverdale” producers said in a joint statement. “A beloved member of the ‘Riverdale,’ Warner Bros. and CW family, Luke was everything you would hope he would be: an incredibly caring, consummate professional with a giant heart, and a true friend to all. A father figure and mentor to the show’s young cast, Luke was incredibly generous, and he infused the set with love and kindness. Our thoughts are with Luke’s family during this most difficult time.”

According to the Wall Street Journal, the imminent restructuring at WarnerMedia will see Zucker take on oversight of much of the company’s live programming efforts, covering both the cable news network and Turner’s sports broadcasts.

News of his new role comes amid an ongoing shakeup of WarnerMedia executives as the company moves to streamline its cable network operations under the guidance of chief executive John Stankey. Both Levy and HBO chairman and CEO Richard Plepler announced plans to depart this week, just days after reports that former NBC president Bob Greenblatt was in talks with the WarnerMedia CEO for a position overseeing a more integrated HBO and Turner.

WarnerMedia did not immediately respond to TheWrap’s request for comment.

Levy formally announced his departure in a memo to staff on Friday.

“After much consideration and more than 32 years at Turner, the past six years as the President of this great company, I have decided the time is right to leave my role,” Levy wrote in an internal memo announcing his exit, highlighting Turner’s portfolio of sports broadcasts as a particular point of pride from his 32-year tenure at the company.

During his tenure, Levy was most heavily involved with the company’s sports rights deals. Before his promotion to president, he oversaw ad sales, distribution and sports for Turner. Levy was instrumental in negotiating key media rights deals for Turner, most notably with the NBA (for TNT) and MLB (for TBS).

Levy also helped orchestrate Turner’s partnership with CBS Sports to broadcast the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament, making TBS the first cable network to air the Men’s Basketball Final Four and National Championship Game.

Zucker took the helm as CNN president in 2013 after first rising through the ranks at NBCUniversal. He currently oversees all of the company’s businesses, including CNN, CNN International, HLN and all digital properties.
