"The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2" dominated the nominations for the Golden Raspberry Awards, the satiric honor meant to recognize the worst films of the year.
The finale to the vampire romance franchise scored 11 nominations on Wednesday — a particularly impressive feat given that the Golden Raspberry Awards, or "Razzies" as they are popularly known, only have 10 categories.
This year's crop of Razzie contenders were announced the day before Oscar nominations will be unveiled. They will be awarded on the eve of the Oscar show in February. Amazingly some recipients even turn up to accept their awards in person, such as Halle Berry, who won the Worst Actress honor in 2005 for her work in the box office dud "Catwoman."
At least "Breaking Dawn – Part 2" was a hit. Not so most of the other nominees in the Worst Picture category, a group that includes the family film "The Oogieloves in the Big Balloon Adventure," as well as a trio of painful flops — the action spectacle "Battleship," Adam Sandler's "That's My Boy" and Eddie Murphy's "A Thousand Words."
Both Sandler and Murphy earned nods for Worst Actor for their work in those films. They will vie for the award with Nicolas Cage for "Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance" and "Seeking Justice" and Robert Pattinson for "Breaking Dawn – Part 2."
Tyler Perry was also nominated for his work in "Alex Cross" and "Good Deeds." Thanks to his drag-based performance in"Madea's Witness Protection, he will also contend for Worst Actress honors.
Perry will duke it out for Worst Actress against Katherine Heigl for "One for the Money," Kristen Stewart for "Snow White and the Huntsman" and "Breaking Dawn – Part 2," Milla Jovovich for "Resident Evil: Retribution," and Barbra Streisand for "The Guilt Trip."
Amazingly, Taylor Kitsch, who had a string of box office bombs in "Battleship" and "John Carter," was left untouched by Razzie voters, although the cast of "Battleship" was nominated for a Worst Screen Ensemble prize.
