“The Neighborhood” is getting another new resident.
“2 Broke Girls” star Beth Behrs has been cast as the female lead opposite Max Greenfield and Cedric the Entertainer in CBS’ new sitcom, an individual with knowledge of the production tells TheWrap. Behrs will play Dave’s (Greenfield) wife Gemma, who was played by Dreama Walker in the pilot.
The recasting is the second “The Neighborhood” (previously “Welcome to the Neighborhood”) has seen since it was picked up by CBS, as Greenfield took over for Josh Lawson, who played Dave — the nicest guy in the Midwest who moves his family into a Los Angeles neighborhood where not everyone appreciates his extreme neighborliness — in the pilot.
Cedric leads the cast as Calvin Butler, an opinionated neighbor.
The multi-cam hails from CBS Television Studios and is written and executive produced by Jim Reynolds. Aaron Kaplan and Dana Honor will executive produce for Kapital Entertainment, along with Wendi Trilling. Cedric The Entertainer and Eric Rhone will executive produce under their A Bird And A Bear Entertainment banner. James Burrows also grabs an executive producing credit and directed the pilot.
Behrs is repped by CAA, Anonymous Content and attorney Robert Wallerstein at Hirsch Wallerstein Hayum Matlof and Fishman.
