Bette Midler‘s quick wit and sharp tongue have gotten her into a trouble with Caitlyn Jenner fans after Midler tweeted about the transgender icon.

“Now that @IAmCait has been cancelled, will she go back to being Bruce?” Midler wrote, referring to Jenner’s former life as Olympic gold medalist Bruce Jenner.

Midler then double-dipped, hitting a nerve about the reality star’s ex-wife Kris Jenner and the Kardashian empire. “Will Kris take him back? Do I smell a re-wedding?!” Midler asked.

Realizing the error of her ways, she quickly offered up an apology.

Although Midler has since deleted the post, the floodgates were already open and the criticism poured in. Some accepted her apology; some did not.

This is not the first time that the actress-singer-producer has publicly voiced her opinion about Jenner. Midler, who has always been a champion of the LGBT community, questioned Jenner’s conservative Republican views.

“People, #CaitlynJenner says she is STILL voting GOP in 2016,” Midler tweeted last November. “Regardless of gender identity, I guess she identifies most as ‘uninformed.’”

The star of “First Wives Club” and “Beaches” has also clashed with other members of the Jenner family. She and Kim Kardashian got into a little bit of a Twitter tiff after Kanye West’s better half posted a nude selfie. Midler, of course, had a smart response, tweeting, “Kim Kardashian tweeted a nude selfie today. If Kim wants us to see a part of her we’ve never seen, she’s gonna have to swallow the camera.”
