Betty White Scores SAG Nomination After Life Achievement Award

SAGs agree with Golden Gloves on five best dramatic actors

One of Betty White's most impressive life achievements: scoring a SAG nomination the year after her SAG Life achievement award.

In the SAG Awards announced Thursday, the 88-year-old actress also managed to vaunt her TV Land sitcom, "Hot in Cleveland," into the comedy ensemble category, alongside "Glee," "30 Rock," "Modern Family" and "The Office."

Those four award-show regulars also provided eight of the ten nominees in the comedic acting categories; Edie Falco ("Nurse Jackie") was the only one from outside the shows, besides White, to crack comedic actress.

"Glee," "30 Rock," "Modern Family" and "The Office" were also nominated for comedic ensemble last year, along with "Curb Your Enthusiam." Its absence during the eligibility period cleared the way for "Cleveland."

On the drama side, SAG nominated four of last year's five nominees: "Mad Men," "The Closer," "The Good Wife" and "Dexter," as well as newcomer "Boardwalk Empire," which bumped off fellow HBO show "True Blood."

And SAG found consensus with the Golden Globes, nominating exactly the same slate in the best dramatic actor category: Steve Buscemi ("Boardwalk Empire"), Bryan Cranston ("Breaking Bad"), Michael C. Hall ("Dexter"), Jon Hamm ("Mad Men") and Hugh Laurie ("House").

HBO's "Temple Grandin" and "You Don't Know Jack" ruled in the miniseries or made-for-TV movie categories, with "Grandin" scoring actress nominations for Claire Danes, Catherine O'Hara and Julia Ormond. Winona Ryder was nominated for CBS' "When Love is Not Enough: The Lois Wilson Story," and Susan Sarandon for "You Don't Know Jack."

Her co-stars, John Goodman and Al Pacino, were both nominated on the actor side, along with Dennis Quaid ("The Special Relationship"), Edgar Ramirez ("Carlos") and Patrick Stewart ("Macbetth").

This year's life achievement award goes to Ernest Borgnine.
