‘Black Sails’ Actress Sibo Mlambo Lands Female Lead in Dance Sequel ‘Honey 3’ (Exclusive)

Bille Woodruff returns to direct the third film in the popular franchise for Universal

“Black Sails” actress Sibo Mlambo has been cast as the female lead in Universal’s sequel “Honey 3,” which will be set in South Africa and likely debut on DVD in the U.S., TheWrap has learned.

Mlambo will play Ishani Magona, a street-tough Cape Town local who never backs down from a fight — or a dance battle. Using hints of Kwaito, a style based on African tribal rhythms, Ishani’s moves are as aggressive and powerful as she is. Still reeling from the loss of her brother, Ishani has a hardened exterior and doesn’t take too kindly to an outsider named Malea. However, when Malea asks her to choreograph a production of “Romeo and Juliet,” Ishani rediscovers her her passion for creativity and the two form an unlikely partnership.

Bille Woodruff returns to direct “Honey 3” after directing the first two films starring Jessica Alba and Mekhi Phifer, and Kat Graham and Randy Wayne, respectively.

Mlambo, who recurs on the hit Starz series “Black Sails,” will soon be seen opposite Chadwick Boseman in “Message From the King” and alongside Javier Bardem and Charlize Theron in Sean Penn’s “The Last Face.”

Mlambo co-stars in the indie movie “Ladygrey” with Meg Mortimer and Peter Sarsgaard, and she also plays Denzel Whitaker’s love interest in the Lifetime drama “Back to School Mom.” She’s represented by Generate in Los Angeles and APM in South Africa.
