Bonnie Hammer Appoints NBCU Cable Group Research and Brand Heads

Charles Kennedy and Liz Mahaffey assume key positions on the team

Charles Kennedy and Liz Mahaffey have been appointed to key positions on Bonnie Hammer's NBCU Cable team.

Kennedy has been named executive vice president of research and insights. In the role, he will oversee primary, programming, ad sales and digital research for the cable entertainment portfolio and provide insight on data from consumer intelligence and marketplace trends. He joins the team from ABC where he led all of the network's research activities.

“Charles is at the top of his field, a talented executive with a deep knowledge of the business,” said Hammer in Thursday's announcement. “His keen insights, opinions and feedback are invaluable assets to our future growth.”

Hammer appointed Mahaffey to the post of executive vice president of brand strategy. In the role, she will oversee strategic planning initiatives for the division's stable of networks.

On Mahaffey, Hammer said, “Liz is one of the best big picture thinkers in the business. She will play a pivotal role in making the whole of this portfolio greater than the sum of its parts.”

She joined NBCU from Comedy Central in 2002, where she was the vice president of programming research.

In February, Hammer took over NBCU's full cable portfolio, which includes 12 networks, including USA, Bravo, Syfy, E!, Oxygen, Style, Esquire Network, Sprout, TV One, Chiller, Cloo and Universal HD, as well as production entities Universal Cable Productions and Wilshire Studios.
