Showtime announced on Monday that "Borgias" creator Neil Jordan will release an e-book, "The Borgia Apocalypse," which is based on his script for Showtime's abandoned two-hour finale for the series.

"We're thrilled that the series' loyal fans will have the opportunity to read Neil's final farewell to one of history's most infamous families," Showtime said in an announcement.

The e-book will be available via major e-retailers this week.

Showtime had originally intended to send off "The Borgias" — which ended its three-season run on June 16 — with a super-sized finale. However, Showtime entertainment president David Nevins said at the Television Critics Association press tour last month that the expanded finale ultimately wasn't feasible.

Nevins' appearance at the press tour was marked by a plane lying over the event and towing a banner imploring him to save the series.
