Ilana Glazer and Abbi Jacobson are weighing in on why they found a new expletive for “Broad City” Season 4.

The stars of the Comedy Central series told reporters during the Television Critics Association’s summer press tour on Tuesday that they decided during rewrites to bleep Donald Trump’s name in all of this season’s scripts. His name is heavily censored in the season’s sixth episode.

“We just got to a point where in real life, we’re talking about the current administration, we’re talking about Trump, and it sounds so gross every day, saying it so many times,” Glaser said. “We just didn’t want to share air time — he’s got enough — and also don’t even want to hear the word.”

Glaser explained that eliminating the name is “just a different kind of joke — an audio joke.”

Jacobson added that they wanted the show to reflect the ire that they express in their real-life friendship about the Trump presidency.

“For us to not be talking about it as friends in the show would have been insane and would have felt wrong,” she said.

Hillary Clinton, who ran against Trump in the last presidential election, guest starred in the show’s third season.

“Broad City” launches Season 4 on Sept. 13 on Comedy Central.
