Brooklyn Democratic Debate at the Brooklyn Navy Yards.

Last night’s Democratic debate at Duggan Greenhouse in the Brooklyn Navy Yard averaged 5.6 million viewers, according to Nielsen Fast National data.

CNN averaged 5.396 million total viewers and the local NYC cable television news channel NY1 had 171,000. They combine to rank No. 7 among Democratic debates this cycle.

CNN ranked No. 1 in cable news during primetime last night, averaging 4.15 million total viewers, compared to Fox News’ 2.396 million while MSNBC didn’t crack 1 million. Among the key demo of adults age 25-54, CNN had 1.289 million, Fox News followed with 409,000 and MSNBC had 211,000.

CNN and NY1 turned a pair of old Navy warehouses into a high-tech space for  the debate between Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton.

The heated discussions including moderator Wolf Blitzer grilling Sanders on releasing his taxes, Sanders hitting Clinton over Iraq and her willingness to take large sums from big banks, and Clinton hitting back at him for recently questioning her qualifications.

CNN’s chief political correspondent Dana Bash and NY1 host and CNN commentator Errol Louis joined Blitzer as questioners.
