Cannes 2012: IFC Midnight Acquires Erotic Korean Drama ‘Taste of Money’

IFC will handle North American distribution for Im Sang-soo's "The Taste of Money," a drama about sexual desires and power struggles in a rich Korean family

IFC Midnight has acquired the North American rights to "The Taste of Money," a film from Korean writer-director Im Sang-soo that premiered this week in competition at the Cannes Film Festival.

The Taste of MoneyAn erotic drama centered on the sexual desires and power struggles in a rich Korean family, "The Taste of Money" follows in the path of the director's previous film, "The Housemaid," which IFC also handled.

"'The Taste of Money' is his most decadent and sensual film yet while also a smart commentary on the lives of the rich and famous," said Sundance Selects/IFC president Jonathan Sehring in a release announcing the acquisition. "We are honored to continue our relationship with him after our release of 'The Housemaid.'"

The deal was made by Jeff Deutchman for IFC and Erica Nam of Daisy & Cinergy Entertainment for the filmmakers.
