Anchor Bay Films has purchased the rights to the supernatural thriller "Shadow People" from Arclight Pictures.
Produced by Michael Ohoven ("Capote") and directed by newcomer Matthew Arnold, "Shadow People" centers on a small-town radio personality who unravels a conspiracy about encounters with mysterious beings.
The deal covers all rights for North America, U.K. and Australia and New Zealand. The pact was announced at the Cannes Film Festival where Arclight has also been hawking "Dangerous Liaisons." Not to be confused with the 1988 film adaptation of Christopher Hampton's play of the same name, this "Liaisons" is a Chinese-language romantic thriller set in 1930s Shanghai.
Arclight said Friday that is has sold several territories for the film in the Middle East and Asia. Among the buyers were Shaw Media, snagging Singapore rights; Italia Film, representing Greece; and Zonbo Media, getting China.
