Cary Elwes has been cast in a guest starring role on “Life in Pieces,” TheWrap has learned exclusively.

Elwes will play Professor Sinclair Wilde, Joan’s (Dianne Wiest) pretentious college writing professor who takes quite a liking to her work, much to John’s (James Brolin) dismay.

Elwes is an internationally recognized film and television star, perhaps best known for his role as Wesley in Rob Reiner‘s classic film “The Princess Bride.” He also starred in Mel Brooks‘ “Robin Hood: Men in Tights,” “Twister” and in the original “Saw.”

His memoir, “As You Wish: Inconceivable Tales from the Making of ‘The Princess Bride,’” was a New York Times Bestseller.

Elwes is represented by APA and LINK Entertainment.

It was previously announced that Megan Mullally and Nick Offerman will appear as guest stars in the Season 2 premiere episode of the series. In addition, football legend Kurt Warner, boxing champion Victor Ortiz, Victoria’s Secret Angel Jasmine Books and social media sensation Lilly Singh will also appear.

Justin Adler, Aaron Kaplan, Jason Winer, Jeff Morton and Brad Copeland all serve as executive producers on the show, which was created by Adler. Twentieth Century Fox Television produces in association with Kapital Entertainment.

“Life in Pieces” Season 2 will premiere on Oct. 27 at 9:30 p.m./8:30c on CBS.
