CBS Casts Sarah Shahi in Nancy Drew Pilot

Series will take modern spin on classic junior detective novels

Sarah Shahi has been cast as the lead in the new Nancy Drew pilot currently in the works at CBS, TheWrap has learned.

Shahi, who has appeared in shows like “Person of Interest,” “Chicago Fire,” and “The L Word,” joins previously announced cast members Anthony Edwards and Vanessa Ferlito.

Edwards will play Nancy’s father, Carson, who graduated top of his class from Yale Law. Ferlito will play Nancy’s best friend, George, an NYPD homicide detective. Felix Solis has also been cast to play Lt. Ford, an NYPD officer who butts heads with Nancy.

“Drew” follows Nancy, now a detective for the NYPD in her 30s, as she investigates and solves crimes using her uncanny observational skills, all while navigating the complexities of life in a modern world.

Joan Rather and Tony Phelan will write and executive produce the pilot, with Dan Jinks also executive producing. CBS Television Studios will produce.
