Christa Robinson has been named senior vice president of communications for CBS News, the network announced Wednesday.

In this role, Robinson will oversee CBS News’ day-to-day media relations activities, as well as public affairs and communications strategy.

She will report to both David Rhodes, president of the division, and Gil Schwartz, chief communications officer for CBS Corporation.

Robinson previously led the communications department at CNN and its global networks for more than a decade. She also oversaw corporate communications for Tribune Media Company, and has served as director of communications for the White House Domestic Policy Council.

“Christa is a top-notch executive who has great knowledge of journalism and of communication strategy, and that is a terrific combination,” Rhodes said. “As we grow audience across all distribution channels, it’s essential we have the right person to tell our story. I look forward to working with Christa to shine a light on the great programming and original reporting our correspondents and producers do every day.”
