“Mom,” starring Anna Faris as Christy and Allison Janney as her mother Bonnie, will be returning for Season 3 in the fall. The role netted Janney an Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series Emmy in August, one of two awards she took home that night.
“Mike & Molly,” renewed for Season 6, features Melissa McCarthy and Billy Gardell as the titular leads. A consistent performer for the network, the sitcom is the highest-rated scripted series among the adults 18-49 demo on Mondays, beating out Fox’s “Gotham,” CBS’s “2 Broke Girls” and The CW’s “Jane the Virgin” in same day ratings.
Warner Bros. Television produces both comedies.
The renewals mean Lorre will executive produce three shows for CBS next year, as his other comedy, “The Big Bang Theory,” had previously been extended through 2017.
