CBS to Develop Navy SEAL Drama With Mark Harmon Producing

Series will be based on nonfiction best-seller by Brandon Webb and John David Mann

Mark Harmon is signed on to executive produce a Navy SEAL drama currently in development at CBS, an individual with knowledge of the project told TheWrap.

The series will be based on the best-selling nonfiction book “The Red Circle: My Life in the Navy SEAL Sniper Corps and How I Trained America’s Deadliest Marksmen” by Brandon Webb and John David Mann.

The book is based on the real life experiences of Webb, who served with SEAL Team 3, Naval Special Warfare Group One Training Detachment sniper cell and completed his last tour at the Naval Special Warfare Center Sniper Course where he served as the west coast sniper Course Manager.

Harmon currently executive produces “NCIS” for CBS through his Wings Production banner in addition to starring in the long-running procedural. He also executive produces the spinoff, “NCIS: New Orleans.” Todd Robinson is attached to write the script as well as write the script. Webb will also produce.

Sniper and SEAL projects have been popular since the box office success of films like Bradley Cooper’s “Amerian Sniper” and Mark Wahlberg’s “Lone Survivor.”

USA Network recently announced that it is developing a television version of another Wahlberg film, “Shooter,” which will star Ryan Phillippe. NBC also recently acquired the six-hour miniseries “The Reaper,” which tells the true story of U.S. Army Ranger sniper Nicholas Irving.

Harmon, Robinson and Webb are represented by Paradigm Talent Agency. Robinson is managed by Brillstein Entertainment Partners and the law firm Stone, Meyer, Genow, Smelkinson and Binder. Barry Axelrod is the attorney for Harmon.
