Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence are getting company aboard their “Passengers” spacecraft, as “Masters of Sex” star Michael Sheen will play a robot traveling with the duo in Sony’s space romance, TheWrap has learned.
Morten Tyldum (“The Imitation Game”) is directing from a script by Jon Spaihts (“Doctor Strange”).
Pratt plays a space traveler who awakes early from a cryogenic sleep and decides to wake up a female passenger, played by Lawrence. The two begin to fall for each other, though his decision has dire consequences.
Neal Moritz and Ori Marmur will produce for Original Film alongside Stephen Hamel of Company Films and Michael Maher of Start Media.
Sheen has done a solid job balancing blockbusters like “Tron: Legacy” and the “Twilight” franchise with thoughtful adult dramas such as “Frost/Nixon” and “Far From the Madding Crowd.” He currently stars on Showtime’s “Masters of Sex” and will soon be seen in the comedic miniseries “The Spoils Before Dying.”
Sheen’s casting was first reported by Variety.
