“Sorry Joe, while you were leaning forward, we were moving ahead!” the ad brags about CNN’s ratings streak

CNN’s “New Day” bragged about its winning streak over MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” in a full-page New York Times advertisement Thursday.

“Sorry Joe, while you were leaning forward, we were moving ahead!” the ad reads.

The advertisement goes on to highlight the CNN morning show’s four-month total-viewers winning streak and seven-month winning streak in the advertiser-coveted 25-54-year-old demo over MSNBC’s roundtable chat show.

“Highest ratings ever!” the ad boasts before also highlighting that sister network HLN’s morning show, “Morning Express” with Robin Meade, has also defeated Morning Joe in the demo for nine months in a row.

Morning Joe New Day

The ad is certainly a confident, agressive play by CNN to highlight its morning show’s success.

As TheWrap reported, even with the recent success, “New Day” shook things up to start 2015, replacing co-host Kate Bolduan with Alisyn Camerota while also promoting Michaela Pereira to co-anchor. The show also inserted Javi Morgado as executive producer. Morgado replaced Matt Frucci, who was a casualty of the mass layoffs at CNN in 2014.

In a recent wide-ranging interview, “Morning Joe” executive producer Alex Korson addressed ratings.

“I think all of cable news is down this year; that’s just the way the media landscape is right now. We’re happy that, for the fifth straight year [2014], more people have watched “Morning Joe” than CNN and HLN, second to Fox News. I love the fact that we’re talked about more online and in the zeitgeist than other shows. I love the fact that our revenue is up. I love the fact that we’ve hired this year and CNN has had a lot of public [layoffs].
