“SNL” stars Colin Jost and Michael Che didn’t quite win the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal at WrestleMania 35 — but they almost did. Kind of.

Before the final match on Sunday’s WrestleMania pre-show, Jost walked the MetLife Stadium entrance ramp wearing an Odell Beckham Jr. Cleveland Browns jersey, getting booed heavily in the New York Giants’ home arena. Beckham Jr. was recently traded from the Giants to the Browns, an unpopular decision among many New York/New Jersey football fans.

When the bell for the free-for-all match rang, Jost and his “Weekend Update” partner Che wisely retreated out of and under the ring. They emerged when nemesis Braun Strowman was basically the only competitor remaining. (As you can via the video below, an elimination of the Hardy Boyz was basically a formality.)

After the two failed to hoist Strowman over the top rope, Jost took to the microphone and pled for nonviolence. The stand-up comedian and “SNL” head writer then got his therapist involved. Yes, for real. (Or, in this case, for storyline.)

Strowman made quick work of Che and then tossed Jost clear from the ring, when the former powerlifter was declared the victor. It’s a good thing the “Monster Among Men” won the battle royal, because he’s probably the only one in the building that could lift the trophy.
