Coolio Talks of Arrest for Firearm Possession: ‘For Now, I’m Fine’ (Video)

“You know, we gotta go on and we gotta push on,” the rapper says on YouTube

Coolio fans take note: the rapper’s national tour will commence as planned, despite his arrest following an incident at Los Angeles International Airport Saturday.

The “Gangsta’s Paradise” rapper took to YouTube Saturday night to say he was “fine” after being arrested at LAX for suspicion of possession of a firearm by a felon.

“What’s up everybody? This is Coolio,” he said in a YouTube video post, while noshing on dinner. “I just want to say something about the little misunderstanding at the airport today. Everything’s fine. I’m fine. As you can see, I’m at P.F. Chang’s having a meal and having a few drinks. I don’t know what the result of this is in the future, but for now, I’m fine.”

Coolio was arrested at the airport after security found a loaded gun in a carry-on bag during a screening. According to airport police officer Alicia Hernandez, the bag contained items that belonged to the man’s traveling companion who had already boarded an aircraft. The man was later identified as Coolio.

“I appreciate everybody’s concerns, all your posts and everything, everybody saying some positive things. For those that aren’t, hey, much love to you, too,” he added. “But, you know, we gotta go on and we gotta push on.”

The 53-year-old rapper, whose real name is Artis Leon Ivey Jr., was arrested at LAX in 2009 when authorities allegedly found rock cocaine in his luggage.

Coolio’s tour continues in Indio, California Sunday night before moving on to Indiana, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Mississippi and so on, which can be found on his website.
