The first trailer for “Crazy Rich Asians” will take you into the lives of the ultra fabulous living in Singapore.
Rachel Chu (Constance Wu) decides to travel to Singapore to meet the family of her boyfriend Nick Young (Henry Golding). However, their travel plans happen to have fallen around the time of the biggest wedding of the year, and Rachel sees just how rich her boyfriend’s family is.
“So your family is rich?” Rachel says while sitting in first class of Pacific Asian Airlines.
“We’re comfortable,” Nick responds.
Later, Rachel realizes: “These people aren’t just rich… they are crazy rich.”
The film is based on Kevin Kwan’s best-selling novel of the same name, which has almost 1 million copies in print around the world and has been in the top 10 in Singapore, Hong Kong, Philippines, Malaysia and Indonesia since its release in 2013.
John M. Chu directed the movie that also stars Gemma Chan, Michelle Yeoh, Ken Jeong, Harry Shum Jr., Jimmy O. Yang and Sonoya Mizuno, and it will be the first Hollywood studio movie with an all-Asian cast.
“Crazy Rich Asians” will be produced by Color Force’s Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson and Ivanhoe President John Penotti. Kwan will serve as executive producer alongside Ivanhoe Chairman Robert Friedland.
“Crazy Rich Asians” will hit theaters on August 17.
