Danai Gurira has also heard those rumors about the possibility of an all-female “Avengers” movie, and she believes it’s absolutely time for one.
“I keep hearing this rumor also,” she said during her appearance on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” on Wednesday. “The cool thing is that it’s showing there’s this hunger for this type of thing. The awesome Brie Larson is filming ‘Captain Marvel’ as we speak… It’s exciting because it’s showing that yeah, of course, it’s time we start seeing the perspective of a story come exclusively from women. Magic happens when women do their thang.”
“I can do superhuman things, so if you need me at all, there are things I can do,” DeGeneres weighed in, just in case the all-female “Avengers” movie comes into fruition any time soon.
According to Observer, Tessa Thompson last October revealed that the women of the Marvel Cinematic Universe had pitched an idea for an all-female “Avengers” film.
However, at the Tribeca Film Festival, Thompson told the outlet, “I don’t know. That was kind of an offhand thing, and then the press really ran with it. The extent to which the press ran with it is also an expression of what ripe a time it is for something like that. That people are hungry for it, that people are interested in it.”
Marvel films have starred Zoe Saldana, Scarlett Johansson, Elizabeth Olsen, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Thompson, Evangeline Lilly, Lupita Nyong’o and Gurira.
The actress is reprising her “Black Panther” role in the upcoming “Avengers: Infinity War,” and when asked what she can tell us about the latter film, she said, “Absolutely nothing,”
“Avengers: Infinity War” was directed by the Russo brothers and will hit theaters on Friday.
