Dave Price Exits ‘Early Show’ Early

Weatherman leaving CBS amid morning show shakeup

"Early Show" weatherman Dave Price announced Friday that he was leaving the show and CBS effective immediately, more than two weeks before his scheduled replacement along with anchors Harry Smith and Maggie Rodriguez.

"Today is my last day at CBS News,” Price said. “I’ve had my dream job at 'The Early Show' for eight years and deeply appreciate the outpouring of affection from so many viewers and colleagues. While sorry to leave, I’m eager and very excited about the next phase of my career.”

Price joined the show in 2003. CBS announced last month that he, Smith and Rodriguez would be replaced Jan. 3 by a new team featuring Chris Wragge, Erica Hill and weather anchor Marysol Castro.

"Dave has performed with creativity and passion on 'The Early Show' and contributed to CBS News on all our platforms and for many programs," CBS News president Sean McManus said. "He has proven himself a gifted broadcaster. We respect his desire to pursue something new and thank him for his many years of service."
