On a day when the Academy's early-morning press conference has monopolized awards news, the Directors Guild has also made an announcement.
The host of its 63rd annual awards show, which takes place on Saturday, will be the guy who's hosted the show 22 previous times, Carl Reiner.
A veritable institution at the DGA Awards, director/writer/actor Reiner is known for his rambling, off-the-cuff manner, as befits a non-televised ceremony that ordinarily takes a very long time to present a relatively small number of awards.
This year should be particularly festive, because the guild is using the show to kick off its 75th anniversary celebration and highlight "game changing moments" in the DGA's history.
The DGA also confirmed the lineup of presenters, which includes DGA president Taylor Hackford, past president Michael Apted, and directors Kathryn Bigelow, James Cameron, Francis Ford Coppola, Clint Eastwood, John Rich, Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg.
Plus an array of actors: Steve Buscemi, Claire Danes, Leonardo DiCaprio, Colin Firth, Jenna Fischer, Andrew Garfield, Armie Hammer, Jennifer Lawrence, Melissa Leo, Helen Mirren, Jim Parsons, Natalie Portman, Julia Stilesand Sofia Vergara.
The DGA Awards will take place on Saturday, January 29 at the Grand Ballroom at Hollywood & Highland.
