Dick Clark suffered a fatal heart attack a day after undergoing prostate surgery, according to a death certificate for the late legend.
Clark died last Wednesday at St. John’s Health Center in Santa Monica, Calif. On Tuesday, he had an operation to relieve acute urinary retention, a typically low-risk procedure.

The 82-year-old entertainer’s death certificate cites acute myocardial infarction and coronary artery disease as the official causes of his death.
Clark’s publicist Paul Shefrin confirmed the surgery report on Tuesday. “It’s a fact that on Tuesday he had prostate surgery and on Wednesday he passed away,” Shefrin told TheWrap. “That doesn’t mean the two are related.”
