The Directors Guild of America will honor Nora Ephron, Sen. Patrick Leahy, IATSE President Matthew Loeb and HBO Documentary Films President Sheila Nevins in New York on Oct. 13, the DGA said Friday.
DGA also will give a posthumous award to the late filmmaker Alice Guy Blache.
Past DGA honorees include Robert Altman, Jonathan Demme, Milos Forman, Spike Lee, Sydney Pollack and Martin Scorsese.
Ephron, whose credits include "This Is My Life," "Sleepless in Seattle" and "Julie & Julia," is being honored for her prolific career, while Leahy, a Democrat from Vermont, is being honored "for his unflagging commitment to safeguarding the content created by DGA members and others in the creative and business communities against the ravages of digital theft and counterfeiting."
The DGA said it is honoring Loeb, in his second term as president of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees, Moving Picture Technicians, Artists and Allied Crafts, "for his commitment and accomplishments as a labor leader and in the fight against internet theft."
HBO's Nevins, meanwhile, is being feted for her unwavering commitment to documentary filmmakers and the advancement of documentaries. She has supervised more than 1,000 documentary programs and has won 23 Primetime Emmys, 26 News and Documentary Emmys and 35 George Foster Peabody Awards.
And Blache, who died in 1968, is being honored "in recognition of her groundbreaking career as the first female filmmaker and the first filmmaker to develop narrative filmmaking."
