The Directors Guild of America and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers have agreed to enter into formal contract negotiations on Nov. 4, the two sides said Wednesday.
The means the DGA will be the first of Hollywood’s major creative guilds to come to the table with the studios and networks, as they have been in recent rounds of negotiations. The talks will be held at AMPTP headquarters in Sherman Oaks, Calif.

The DGA’s deal runs out on June 30, as does that of SAG-AFTRA. The Writers Guild’s contract expires on May 1. SAG-AFTRA and the WGA have yet to set dates for talks. It will be the first time for the studios have negotiated with the merged Screen Actors Guild and American Federation of Television and Radio Artists.
The DGA named Michael Apted and Thomas Schlamme as its negotiating committee co-chairs in February.
