Discovery’s ‘Gold Rush’ Tries ‘Mining Like the Old Timers’ in New Sneak Peek (Exclusive Video)

New episode airs Friday, Oct. 23

The Beets crew finally succeeds in reviving an old dredge built in 1938 in a new sneak peek at Friday’s episode of the Discovery reality series “Gold Rush.”

In the new episode, Tony Beets will realize his longtime dream of “mining like the old timers” and reviving the dredge after 50 years.

The sneak peek sees the family christening the machine and starting it up, piece by piece, until it’s running like new. “For all the hubbub over the last year and a half, it’s finally nice to see the damn thing actually move,” Mike Beets says in the clip.

Discovery’s reality series returned for Season 6 last week, topping all of TV among men 25-54 on Friday, according to Nielsen’s Live Plus 3 Day ratings. The episode bested ABC’s “Shark Tank” and CBS’ “Blue Bloods,” as well as Fox’s American League Championship Series Game 1 in that demo by 9 percent.

“Gold Rush” airs Friday at 9 p.m. on Discovery.
