A few decades ago we’d often get three or four different Stephen King adaptations a year in theaters and on television, and 2019 feels like a throwback because it’s got so many new ones: “It Chapter Two,” In the Tall Grass,” “Pet Sematary,” season 2 of “Castle Rock,” and “Doctor Sleep.” That’s a lot of Stephen King things.

Based on the adult-focused parts of Stephen King’s iconic novel, “It Chapter Two” takes place 27 years after the first film. The Losers Club, now adults who have gone their separate ways, reluctantly reunite in Derry to fulfill the blood oath they made to each other and finish off the evil Pennywise once and for all. Director/writer pair Andy Muschietti and Gary Dauberman return, with James McAvoy, Jessica Chastain, Bill Hader, Isaiah Mustafa, Jay Ryan, James Ransone and Andy Bean playing the older versions of the Losers Club members.

With this being the end of the epic story and all that, you might wonder what could be the purpose of a mid- or post-credits scene on “It Chapter Two.” There’s no reason to believe that a third “It” movie would ever be made, but many of the works of Stephen King are part of a shared universe, “It” among them. What better place to launch like a Stephen King Cinematic Universe than with the biggest adaptation of his books that there’s ever been?

Not all post-credits scenes exist to tease future movies, also. Sometimes filmmakers include them just for fun. As was the case with “Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again,” for example.

Unfortunately for fans hoping for any extra content after the credits have stopped rolling, “It Chapter Two” has no post-credits or mid-credits scene.

Once the credits start rolling, the movie is over with no extra content remaining. While we do always encourage moviegoers to hang around for the credits on any movie in appreciation for the work of the hundreds or thousands of people who helped bring the movie you just watched to life, you won’t risk missing anything by heading to the bathroom or just leaving if you have to.
