Dr. Phil McGraw has extended his contract with CBS through 2020, the network announced Tuesday.

Currently in its 14th season, “Dr. Phil” is averaging 4.4 million viewers per episode this season and is consistently one of the top daytime shows in the key demographics.

“Extending this dynamic partnership with CBS affords us a chance to continue our important work with individuals and families across America and around the world. Personally, I am so proud to continue with the best team in television,” McGraw said in a statement. “Most of my television family, from Carla Pennington the executive producer to the same seven cameramen I had when we started over 13 years ago, are still here making a difference everyday.”

The contract extension comes on the heels of reports of layoffs, benefit cuts and staff unrest on the “Dr. Phil” set, which TheWrap reported exclusively.

“Some people can’t afford to pay [for their own insurance] and are scrambling to find other insurance or in some cases other jobs,” an insider said. “I’ve even heard about people having to postpone medical procedures because the new benefit plan won’t cover things they already had scheduled.”

In fact, the insider said, things are so bad that “there’s about to be a mutiny.”
