Elton John, T Bone Burnett Join MusiCares Event

Jack Black to host tribute to activist-rocker Neil Young as part of Grammy festivities

Neil Young will be honored as the 2010 MusiCares Person of the Year at a Grammys Week event celebrating his artistic achievements as well as his philanthropic work. Jack Black will host the Jan. 29 gala.

Proceeds from the annual Person of the Year tribute — now in its 20th year — support MusiCares, which provides assistance for music people in times of financial, medical and personal need.

Performers set for the Person of the Year gala include Elton John, Jackson Browne, Crosby, Stills & Nash, Sheryl Crow, T Bone Burnett, Patty Griffin, Lady Antebellum, Leon Russell, Everest, Josh Groban, Emmylou Harris, Norah Jones, k.d. lang, Dave Matthews, John Mellencamp, Ozomatli, Red Hot Chili Peppers, James Taylor and Wilco.

The 2010 MusiCares Person of the Year gala is co-presented by AEG, ELS and Acura. Dinner co-chairs are Warner Bros. Records Chairman Emeritus Mo Ostin, Lookout Management President and Founder Elliot Roberts, and Warner Bros. Records Chairman/CEO Tom Whalley. Two-time Grammy-winning producer Don Was will be the evening’s musical director.
