Fox released a sneak preview of next week’s episode of “Empire” on Thursday.
In the clip, we see Cookie (Taraji P. Henson) reveal to Jamal (Jussie Smollett) that she is forming a rival company with Hakeem (Bryshere Gray) and Andre (Trai Byers).
“It was supposed to be Team Cookie & Jamal,” Smollett says in the behind the scenes clip. “It wasn’t supposed to be Team Cookie, Andre, Hakeem. So I think that [Jamal] is deeply hurt by it.”
We also get a look at a young Lucious living with his mentally ill mother (Kelly Rowland). “We start to understand Lucious because we understand his past,” Smollett says. “Especially his connection with his mother and the fact that he loved her so much but that she was suffering from a mental illness also.”
