The Lyon brothers have roared onto the cover of Essence Magazine.
“Empire” stars Jussie Smollett, Bryshere “Yazz” Gray and Trai Byers, who play Jamal, Hakeem and Andre Lyon respectively, are featured on the cover of the magazine’s special June Vacation Issue — on newsstands Friday.

The magazine offers four different covers — a group shot and an individual of each actor. The three rising stars are readying for a second season of the mega-hit Fox show, which will return early to Fox with an expanded 18-episode season.

“Empire,” which counts Terrence Howard and Taraji P. Henson among its stars, revolves around a hip-hop music and entertainment company.
As TheWrap previously reported, the series has booked A-listers Chris Rock, Lenny Kravitz and Alicia Keys as guest stars for its second season.

The series, created by Lee Daniels and Danny Strong, was a breakout hit for Fox this year, starting out strong in the key 18-49 demographic with its January premiere and rising for several weeks after that. It’s March season finale drew a 6.5 rating in the demo, and amassed 16.7 million total viewers.
