‘Fate of the Furious’ International Trailer Features a Whole Lot More of Charlize Theron (Video)

Eighth film in the franchise hits theaters on April 14

A new international trailer for “The Fate of the Furious” gives audiences a much longer look at Charlize Theron’s new character. And it’s clear: She’s not joining Toretto and the gang to make friends.

“You going to turn your back on family?” says Letty (Michelle Rodriguez) to Dom (Vin Diesel) when Theron’s character steps into his life.

In the film, Dom and Letty are on their honeymoon and the rest of the lawless crew has been exonerated. But when a mysterious woman (Theron) seduces Dom into a world of crime that he can’t seem to escape — a betrayal of those closest to him — they will face trials that will test them unlike ever before.

Later on in the trailer, Letty says, “I don’t know what she’s got on him, but that wasn’t Dom.” At the end, there seems to be some kind of stand-off between the married couple.

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, and Jason Statham will all reprise their roles from the previous films. Helen Mirren and “Game of Thrones” actor Kristofer Hivju are also joining the franchise alongside Theron.

The high-octane sequel is being directed by F. Gary Gray (“Straight Outta Compton”) and produced by Diesel, Neal Moritz of Original Film and Michael Fottrell. Screenwriter Chris Morgan will serve as an executive producer.

“The Fate of the Furious,” a.k.a. “Fast and Furious 8,” opens in theaters on April 14, 2017.
