Katie Couric’s ‘Fed Up’ Trailer Says It’s Not Our Fault We’re Fat (Video)

Documentary from the producer of “An Inconvenient Truth” and narrated by Couric argues America is placing “private profit ahead of public health”

Americans might finally be “Fed Up” with the food industry after watching the latest documentary from the producer of Oscar winner “An Inconvenient Truth.”

Based on the first trailer (above) for the expose narrated and executive produced by Katie Couric, audiences will be forced to question all of their eating habits, and just about every company that provides them with their food.

“Over 95 percent of all Americans will be overweight or obese in two decades,” Couric’s narration hypothesizes.

But according to the experts being interviewed in director Stephanie Soechtig’s film, it’s not our fault.

“We’re blaming willpower, and it’s a crime,” Gary Taubes, author of “Why We Get Fat: And What to Do About It,” says.

One of the problems is that the brain reacts to sugar in much the same way it does to cocaine — and the food we consume has never had higher amounts of sugar.  This is creating a dangerous addiction, which the majority of the country’s population and politicians are still in denial about.

“We place private profit ahead of public health,” David Ludwig, associate professor in pediatrics at the Harvard Medical School, says. “Systematic political failure.”

RADiUS-TWC  is releasing “Fed Up” — the latest in a long line of food-related health documentaries dishing out warnings and advice Americans continue to ignore — in theaters May 9.
