Christina and Tarek El Moussa’s daughter Taylor hoped that the couple would flip-flop on their decision to break up, and lobbied to bring her parents back together, according to one half of the estranged reality TV couple.

In an interview with People, “Flip or Flop” star Christina El Moussa revealed that the couple’s six-year-old daughter “asked if we could get back together.”

Ultimately, Christina added, she and Tarek could only reassure her that she and her 18-month-old brother Brayden would remain foremost in their parents’ hearts.

“We had to explain that sometimes couples get divorced but that she and Brayden are our number one priority. We’ll always be a family.”

The El Moussas, stars of HGTV series “Flip or Flop,” announced their breakup in December, but had broken up months earlier, following a May 2016 incident involving Tarek El Moussa and a gun. Tarek filed for divorce in January, though the couple continues to film the series together.

In their December statement to People, the El Moussas acknowledged that they had split after seven years of marriage.

“Like many couples, we have had challenges in our marriage,” the couple said. “We had an unfortunate misunderstanding about six months ago and the police were called to our house in an abundance of caution. There was no violence and no charges were filed.”

According to the couple, they broke up following a May incident during which law enforcement responded to a call of a “possibly suicidal male with a gun.” The call was made after Tarek retrieved a gun from a safe in the couple’s Orange County, California, home and wandered into nearby Chino Hills State Park.

Tarek told deputies that he headed to the park to “blow off some steam,” and that he brought the gun with him as protection against mountain lions and rattlesnakes.

Christina El Moussa reportedly began seeing contractor Gary Anderson, who had worked with the couple, after the split, though her spokesperson told TheWrap on Wednesday that the reality TV mom is currently unattached.

“Christina is single and being in a relationship is the last thing on her mind,” El Moussa’s spokesperson said. “She is taking this time to focus on her children and herself.”

In her most recent People interview, Christina El Moussa noted that she and Tarek “had our share of issues and acknowledged that “we went through a lot in a short amount of time.”

Among the issues: Tarek’  being diagnosed with thyroid cancer in 2013.

“I had never even known anyone with cancer, so it was a very scary time,” El Moussa said.
