Fox Drops New ‘X-Files’ Clip Teasing Military Conspiracy (Video)

Mulder, Scully return in promo for upcoming revival miniseries

Fox released a new teaser for “The X-Files: I Want to Believe” on Thursday. The promo ends with agents Mulder and Scully wielding their guns before cutting to the series’ trademark musical theme. It also teases what appears to be a military-centric storyline.

“The X-Files: I Want to Believe,” starring David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson premieres Sunday, Jan. 24, 2016, following the NFC Chanpionship Game (airtime TBD).

The series’ Emmy Award-winning creator and executive producer Chris Carter is returning, alongside stars Duchovny and Anderson, who will reprise their roles as FBI agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully, respectively, more than a decade after the show ended in 2002.

Produced by 20th Century Fox Television and Ten Thirteen Productions, the series follows FBI special Scully and Mulder as they investigate unexplained cases — dubbed “X-Files” — for which the only answers involve paranormal phenomena.

During its initial nine-season run, “The X Files” became one of the most successful television dramas of all time, hitting a peak ratings high in 1997 when more than 27 million people tuned in to the Season 5 premiere. The show had earned 16 Emmy Awards, five Golden Globesand a Peabody Award.
