Fox Orders Full Season of Zooey Deschanel’s ‘New Girl’

Zooey Deschanel comedy gets 24 episodes after two strong showings

Looks like the "New Girl" will be sticking around for a while.

Fox announced Wednesday that it's ordered 11 more episodes of the new Zooey Deschanel series, bringing it up to a full season of 24 episodes.

“We love the charming Zooey Deschanel and the entire cast, we’re knocked out with the work that Liz Meriwether and the whole staff is doing and we are really psyched about the upcoming episodes in the pipeline," Kevin Reilly, president of entertainment for the Fox Broadcasting Company, said of the pick-up.

With its Sept. 20 premiere, "New Girl" became Fox's highest-rated series premiere since 2001's "Bernie Mac," posting a strong 4.8 rating/12 share in the adults 18-49 demographic and 10 million total viewers.

For its second episode Tuesday, the series held much of that premiere audience, posting a 4.4/11 in the adult demo and racking up 9.3 million total viewers.

The next two new episodes of "New Girl" will air on special nights and times, on Wednesday, Oct. 12 at 9:30 ET/PT and Tuesday, Oct. 18 at 9:30 ET/PT.
