Palme d'Or winner Gus Van Sant is going back to Cannes.
The director's "Restless" has been tapped to open the festival's Un Certain Regard section, one of the competition's most prized spots.
"Restless" stars Mia Wasikowska and Henry Hopper and focuses on the relationship between two teenagers. Complicating the affair, Wasikowska develops a serious illness.
The film is produced by Columbia Pictures, Imagine Entertainment and 360 Pictures.
Another English language film, Woody Allen's "Midnight in Paris" has been picked as the festival's opening film.
Van Sant is no stranger to the seaside festival, having previously screened films such as "Paranoid Park," "Elephant," and "To Die For" at Cannes.
