Harrison Ford on Han Solo

The actor makes a rare public appearance to publicly discuss the role that made his career

Harrison Ford has spent the last 30 years not talking about "The Empire Strikes Back," or saying much of anything about Han Solo, the character that changed him from a little-known character actor into … well, Harrison Ford.

Late last week, to benefit St. Jude’s children’s hospital, the actor came out to the Arclight in Hollywood to do a Q&A at a screening of "Empire."

The following is the first of five videos (it links to the rest on YouTube) in which Ford talks about his blaster-slinging character, and realizes that he’s now older than Obi Wan Kenobi was at the time.
