HBO’s ‘Doll & Em’ Renewed for Season 2

Upcoming second season will feature guest stars Ewan McGregor, Olivia Wilde and Evan Rachel Wood

“Doll & Em” are coming back — and they’re bringing a few friends with them.

HBO has renewed the comedy series starring Emily Mortimer and Dolly Wells for a six-episode second season, which will feature guest stars including Ewan McGregor, Olivia Wilde, Evan Rachel Wood and Mikhail Baryshnikov.

While the first season focused on exploring what happens when a Hollywood actress hires her childhood friend as a personal assistant while making a film in Los Angeles, the new season, which is currently in production in New York, will feature Mortimer and Wells writing an off-Broadway play together in an effort to do something creative on an equal footing. They manage to hoodwink Wood and Wilde into appearing in it, with Wood playing Doll and Wilde playing Em.

“Chaos ensues when Wilde and Wood begin to lose faith in the project,” HBO said Wednesday of the upcoming second season.
