‘Homeland’ Season 2 Teaser Takes Viewers Inside Claire Danes’ Scrambled Mind

The second season of "Homeland" premieres in September

Looks like a stint at the mental hospital didn't take, because Carrie Mathison's brain is still a jumble of conspiracies in the new trailer for "Homeland"s' second season.

When fans of the Showtime thriller last checked in with the emotionally fragile CIA analyst played by Claire Danes, Carrie had just realized that Nicholas Brody (Damian Lewis) is indeed a terrorist mole. Before she could act on her eureka moment, her mind was wiped clean thanks to electric shock therapy, conveniently setting "Homeland" up for a new season of mysteries.

The sneak peek at what fans of the twisty series have in store is light on details, but it's clear that Carrie will continue to be obsessed with Brody and his possible involvement in a plot to bring down the U.S. government.

Also missing is more than a glimpse of Carrie's mentor Saul (Mandy Patinkin) and his prodigious facial hair.

The Emmy nominee for Best Drama Series returns on Sunday, Sept. 30, at 10 p.m.
