Huffington Post editor-in-chief Arianna Huffington told CNN Tuesday that her news outlet will continue to mock Donald Trump if he becomes the GOP nominee.

“What we’re doing is responsible journalism, pointing out the dangers of a Trump presidency while there is still time to avert it,” Huffington said. “Donald Trump is both a buffoon and dangerous. We’re going to cover him in both ways.”

The HuffPost famously covered Trump in the entertainment section, as opposed to politics, for the first few months of his campaign. Once he started to gain momentum, they moved him to the political section but with the following editor’s note on each story: Donald Trump regularly incites political violence and is a serial liar, rampant xenophobe, racist, misogynist and birther who has repeatedly pledged to ban all Muslims — 1.6 billion members of an entire religion — from entering the U.S.

Fox News media guru Howard Kurtz discussed the situation in a recent interview with TheWrap.

“It gives fuel to those who think we are a bunch of arrogant elitists,” Kurtz said. “The Huffington Post looked ridiculous by covering Trump in the entertainment section for all those months.”

The Trump campaign responded to the HuffPost last July, saying “Mr. Trump has never been a fan of Arianna Huffington or the money-losing Huffington Post.”

Trump’s message went on to call the HuffPost a “glorified blog.”
