Hugh Jackman Says ‘Welcome to Neverland’ in ‘Pan’ Instagram Sneak Peek (Video)

The ”Wolverine“ actor is barely recognizable as the pirate, Blackbeard

Wolverine’s bushy beard and sharp talons are long gone as Hugh Jackman takes on J.M. Barrie’s notorious pirate Blackbeard in “Pan.”

The Australian actor posted an Instagram sneak peek trailer on Thursday that shows the historical character in all his glory.

“Welcome to Neverland,” shouted Jackman, as the opening shot revealed his pale skin and perfectly primped mustache.

The film from director Joe Wright tells the unknown origins of Peter Pan in the reimagined take on the classic tale of the boy who never wanted to grow up. “Pan” still has Peter (played by newcomer Levi Miller) battling a murderous pirate but unlike the stories of the past, the foe to be fought is Blackbeard, played by Jackman.

“Be brave, Peter,” he told Pan in the teaser. “Make them believe.”

After being kidnaped by the villainous pirate, Peter is helped by an unexpected ally in this film: a young Captain Hook, played by Garrett Hedlund.

“Pan” also stars Rooney Mara as Tiger Lilly, Amanda Seyfried as Mary, and Cara Delevingne as a mermaid.

“Pan” was written by Jason Fuchs and will be released July 17, 2015.
