Hulu’s Mike Hopkins, Lionsgate’s Jim Packer to Speak At MIPCOM

Duo will speak about streaming service’s rapid U.S. growth, the changing distribution landscape for digital programs and the future of TV

Jim Packer, President of Worldwide Television and Digital Distribution at Lionsgate, and Mike Hopkins, CEO of Hulu, will hold a keynote conversation on the first day of MIPCOM, the trade show’s organizers announced on Thursday.

The conversation is scheduled for Monday, Oct. 5 in the Grand Auditorium of the Palais Des Festivals in Cannes and will be part of the conference program “A New Creative Excellence.”

Packer and Hopkins will cover Hulu’s rapid U.S. growth, the ever-changing distribution landscape for digital programs and the future of television.

MIPCOM is an annual trade show held in Cannes every October. The leaders of entertainment content gather for four days of meetings, screenings and conferences and turn them into deals which may include blockbuster programming and partnerships.

Hopkins has previously served as President of Distribution for Fox Networks, where he oversaw the company’s broadcast distribution as well as its sales and marketing campaigns. His team also developed digital video products such as FXNOW, FOX Sports Go and FOX NOW.

Packer is in charge of finding evolving distribution opportunities for Lionsgate. He also oversees the rollout of the company’s streaming platforms around the world, which include Lions Gate Entertainment World with The Alibaba Group in China.
